Final Results of Cyberattack Incident Investigation

SSRI Cyberattack Countermeasure Committee
December 10th, 2020

To all of our clients and partners, we sincerely apologise for any inconveniences and concerns caused by the recent cyberattack on our system on October 22nd, 2020.

We would like to report the final results of investigation into the incident by an external cybersecurity agency.

The investigation confirmed that the relevant malware which caused this incident does not have any functions that enable data breach (e.g., file transfer, back-door, self-propagation), therefore we would like to reiterate that there have been no malware-related damage inflicted upon our clients and partners from using our web services, emails, or files sent from SSRI during and after the cyberattack. The investigation also concluded that there were no signs of data breach or secondary damage outside SSRI.

Thanks to the cooperation of our clients, partners, and stakeholders, we have resumed our normal operations following rigorous investigations and steadfast restoration operations. We have rebuilt a more secure environment with a set of cybersecurity measures in place such as continuous monitoring and stronger detection for malicious activities on our client PCs and servers.

We take this incident very seriously and we will strive to keep the high-security environment to protect ourselves from any future cyberattacks.
